Yesterday, while weeding and planting some new flowers out front, we found a worm! The girls of course wanted to keep him and observe him, and learn more about him. So they found an empty ice cream bucket (they come in handy for so many things!) and filled it with some soil and put him into it.
Today, we read a book we have about worms called Twist, Wiggle, and Squirm by Laurence Pringle. And we checked out the site The Adventures of Herman. We also learned some neat worm facts at Yucky Worm World. While there, we watched a video of a worm being "born" from a coccoon, and a video where you could see the worms five hearts beating!
We also made a little worm bin for him. When we emptied what we kept him in for the night we found a tiny surprise! A tiny worm!! So we now have two worms.

We shredded some newspaper and dampened it, added some soil, the worms, and small pieces of carrot.

Next we added some airholes at the top.
