Lazy Days

We've been taking it easy this past week. Olivia is doing much better, just the occasional cough or runny nose. Georgia is having it rough, but improving everyday. And my foot is feeling better, too!

Olivia has been my little helper. Today she helped me bake bread and slice some fruit. She was so proud of herself with cutting! She did a great job.

She also swept the kitchen floor without anyone asking! She moved the trash can to get behind it, got under the table... She's such a sweetie!!

Mostly we've been cuddling and reading, or watching documentaries on the Animal Planet, National Geographic Channel, or the Discovery Channel. Georgia has read through a bunch of her chapter books!

Olivia wanted to work on math. She chose shapes. We reviewed the basic shapes, talking about the differences and key features, she practiced drawing them, and we looked around the house finding things that were different shapes.

The girls both drew a cat from Webkinz World.

(Scanning things drawn from pencil don't show up the best I am finding.)

And Olivia practiced writing and spelling different words while taking a bath...she used bath crayons to write on the shower walls. We also have the letters and numbers that stick to the shower wall when wet, but she wasn't into them this time.

Being sick has given us another opportunity to talk about the common cold, communicable diseases, prevention, healthy eating, importance of rest and exercise....all that good stuff.

Tomorrow is their last soccer class. I think Olivia will be fine to go. We'll see about Georgia tomorrow. Tuesday is their gymnastics class. The girls decided they want to continue gymnastics, but take a break from anything else. Since it is getting warmer out, we will have more opportunities to go on hikes. And we received the Rocks and Minerals, and Wildflowers of Ohio field guides! So with them, and our other guides, we will have a lot of identifying to do! I just need to figure out what we will use for our nature journals. We'll each be able to keep our own. Fun, Fun!
