This Weekend

On Saturday, Georgia had her class at the Nature Center which was about Alien Invaders! She learned about native and non-native species in the area, and what kind of impact the invaders can have. The kids were out in the woods and in the prairie identifying and collecting samples of the invaders. She had a lot of fun. I don't have any pictures to share as she attends the classes on her own....I don't want to follow her class around with a camera! Ha! I do that enough already...taking pictures. I have the excuse of being a blogger!

After the class, the girls went to the Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA. They each received a free bike helmet courtesy of the local police department. They also went around to the different stations, learning about a variety of health topics and collecting prizes...like toothbrushes, pens, doctor's gear (mask, hair bonnet, gloves, headband).

We all played Clue a few times in the evening. Olivia did a lot of adding, since there were two dice and she added them together for us to know how much we moved. Georgia is really good at the inductive reasoning and other critical thinking skills that are needed for the game!

Sunday we all went to see the movie Nim's Island. We loved it! Then we walked down the main strip and at one of the stores the girls each picked out a new Webkinz doll. They also spun the "Wheel of Wow" and each were given a free item to go with their new pets.

Sunday evening we played some games. Georgia, Mark and I played Trivial Pursuit for Kids while Olivia played with her new Webkinz online. Georgia won! She was really good. We asked her the questions with the three multiple choice answers, but for Mark and I, we did not read the options. Still...she kicked our butts!

Olivia chose to play checkers with me while Georgia played with her new Webkinz. She is really good at it. She always thinks out her moves to see what would happen.

After that, we all played Clue again. The girls love that game!

The girls and I stayed up late to watch the National Geographic special Human Footprint, which I discussed in a previous post.

We didn't have much of an opportunity to go outside this weekend. The temps dropped and we have had rain and storms come through. Hopefully the temps will rise enough for us to enjoy some more park days this week.
