Me, Dad, and Steve played "Horse".

My dad won.

Then they played with the kids.

My dad took them this week for a day together. They had a blast. They went to a park in Eliot, Maine along the Piscataqua River which seperates Maine and New Hampshire. They played on the playground, tossed a frisbee, and went down to the river beach for some fun. Olivia had fun throwing seaweed at Grampa Trueman. She called him "dude". She told him his name at the river was "dude", so she went around saying, "Dude, look at this neat shell..." The girls found a lot of crabs....and they brought some back. They are now in an aquarium here. They did some quick research on crabs and what they like and need to survive. They have fun letting them crawl on them. Their pinchers are too small to actually pinch or hurt the girls.

Strawberry Festival

Last weekend we stopped by the Strawberry Festival in South Berwick, Maine with my mother.

We took a tour of Sarah Orne Jewett's house, a National Historic Landmark and home to the writer for much of her life.

Her work provides a glimpse of life in Maine's countryside and seacoast in the early 1800s.

We walked around downtown, peeking in the shops and chatting with people.

We arrived at the festival a couple hours before closing, but there were still a lot of craftsmen out with their wares. We saw a lot of beautiful items made with natural materials.

The girls picked out a polished rock sculpture.

The girls made some sand art at one of the booths.

All done....

When we went to have the "famous" strawberry shortcakes they were all gone! We should have gotten there earlier I guess.

Instead, we walked down to Dunkin Donuts and got some snacks. Then we walked sat near an outdoor concert and enjoyed the music as we ate.

Wells Beach

We went to Wells Beach again last week.
The girls had fun jumping the waves...

Or running from them.

They checked out the tide pools.

In searching for shells, Georgia found one that had a hole in it near its hinge. She made a necklace out of it. I'll need to get a picture of it. She is so proud of it, and it's very special to her.

We had a picnic lunch.
This guy, and his buddies, were interested in what we had.

Olivia had fun chasing the seagulls away.

Chuck E Cheese

On another rainy day...we've had a lot....we went to Chuck E Cheese with the girls' aunt Jessie, cousin Cory, and friend Chad. They had a fun time playing games.
Skee-ball was one of Livy's favorites.

And of course the horse was a favorite, too.

In the horse game, the girls controlled the horse with the reins. The horse moved as he went, so it felt like they were riding a real horse.

Air hockey was another favorite. Olivia was the champ; she's really good at it.

Afterwards we went to the movie Kung Fu Panda. It was hilarious and everyone had a great time.

Around the House in Maine

Where we are staying it is surrounded by woods. We can sit outside and see lots of little creatures come by.

There is a raccoon and a skunk that comes to eat leftovers by the compost pile. I saw the raccoon but missed the skunk.

Olivia found a walking stick.

Rock Painting

Anna and Georgia did some rock painting one rainy afternoon.

Olivia was sick. There was a bug going around...we've all had it so hopefully the rest of the trip will be sickness-free!
