Georgia worked on and finished her Australia poster today. She had a lot of fun making it and wants to make one for each continent. Then we can have a whole wall of Georgia-made maps! We will hang her Australia poster to the southwest of our Africa poster, as it is located in real life.
We read an article in the National Geographic magazine about the pronghorns losing their migration routes in the western U.S., and another article on a complete set of fossils of an ancient rhinocerous species found in Spain.
Olivia played Reader Rabbit again today. She sorted images, reviewed calenders, and worked on rhymes and opposites with the different games she played.
Georgia also worked on some math today...multiplication. We used some beads to make visual representations of the problems.
Then we had fun making pictures with the beads...
Before supper Georgia was on the National Geographic website again...printing off some more animal fact sheets. Today she printed the polar bear, grizzly bear, beluga whale, and the narwhal. During supper, the storms returned, so she wasn't able to get back on to print more.
In the evening we played the National Geographic game again. Olivia was in charge of passing out the question cards when needed. She also rolled the die, counted the dots, and then counted the spaces we needed to move on the board.
Before bed, the girls played a couple games of checkers together.
Georgia said our next continent study will be on North America. We will also be attending the "Sap to Syrup" event at the local Nature Center this weekend. We will be able to see how maple syrup is made. I remember seeing this a long time ago with my dad in Vermont. It should be fun!
Georgia is reading Ramona and her Mother right now. Her bookmark fell out and she is trying to find her place. She'll probably end up finishing the book tonight.
